Me a Zumba Instructor - You're Funny!

If you had asked me 10 years ago if I would be a neon tutu wearing, side-pony with feather in ear Zumba Instructor, I would have laughed at you and said "you're crazy"!

But here I am - 8 years in to teaching Zumba and still loving every minute of it.

I remember when I first approached my mentor with the thought of "hey, do you think I could do the course and teach the ladies at the women's centres I go to for support?" Her face lit up and she was like "YES YES YES"! I also happened to ask her at that time if anyone smiles as much as I do in class to which she giggled and said "not even close".

Zumba makes me SO happy. Dance makes me SO happy. Music makes me SO happy. And I guess my mathematical brain understands the structure of music, I have the good fortune to feel the beat in my body, and I love the challenge of a new song.

Yes I have my moments of self-doubt - my moments when I hate all of my music, when I'm worried that everyone won't like my new song, when I love a song and the moves don't come - we ALL have these moments - they just show up differently in all of our lives. The important part of this is to push ourselves through these moments because that is how we GROW!

I don't know about you, but I want to be a student of life. I want to strive to be a better version of me every single day. I want to be open to learn from others, learn about myself. I am definitely a life-geek this way!! I think that's one of the reasons I love Zumba so very much - it is always challenging me to grow, learn, try new things.

So here I am on the day of my LAST SUMMER CLASS excited about tonight's 80's Inspired Zumba class challenging YOU to step out of your comfort zone, to be a learner, to try something new and possibly scary today. You never know, that scary thing may just fuel your soul like Zumba has done for me.
